DLT Registration (Distributed Ledger Technology Registration) is now mandatory in India for all businesses, enterprises, and telemarketers that want to send promotional SMS, transactional SMS, or service messages. Implemented by TRAI, the DLT platform registration ensures transparency, prevents SMS spam, and helps brands build customer trust. Whether you are registering your entity, SMS header, or template, the process must be completed through an approved DLT operator like Airtel, Jio, BSNL, Vodafone, or MTNL.
By completing your DLT SMS registration, you get a unique Entity ID, Header ID, and Template ID, allowing you to send bulk SMS in compliance with TRAI regulations. From content template registration to PE-TM chain binding, the DLT process in India guarantees verifiable customer consent, secure communication, and seamless delivery across networks using blockchain technology.
What is DLT Registration ?
DLT Registration or Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) is a registration mechanism which is built on the block-chain technology. It puts into action for the public interest so as to put a stop on SMS spam.
Anyone who is looking for sending promotional bulk sms or transactional SMS to their customer requires to be registered under DLT.
Steps to Register on DLT Platform
To complete your DLT Registration successfully, follow these simple steps to register your Entity, Headers, Templates, and PE-TM Chain on the DLT platform.
Step 1: Entity Registration
For registering your entity, details need to be filled for KYC (Know Your Customer).Documents such as GST,PAN,TAN,CIN etc. are required to be attached. After the completion of the process your organisation will obtain a unique Entity ID.
Step 2: Sender ID (Header) Registration
Messages are grouped into four categories — Promotional, Transactional, Service Explicit, and Service Implicit.
Every business (entity) must register its sender IDs, known as headers, on the DLT platform.
Each header receives a unique Header ID, which can be used across all other DLT platforms without needing to register again.
Step 3: Content Template Registration
Businesses (entities) must register all their SMS content templates on the Blockchain DLT system.
After a template is created, the business keeps full ownership of that template across every DLT platform.
Each template is assigned a unique Template ID, which works seamlessly on all Blockchain DLT SMS platforms.
Also, every content template must clearly include the brand name(s).
